MarinHealth isn’t just the closest care for expecting moms and newborns in the North Bay, it’s the best. From experienced OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Lactation Consultants to our large, private rooms and state of the art level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) we’re well equipped to provide an exceptional, personalized experience.
Located in our Oak Pavilion, our maternity unit is home to the largest, most well-appointed labor and delivery rooms in the Bay Area. From spacious, private rooms with private bathrooms and spa showers, to large windows with nature views, and a fold-out bed for your partner or support person, we care for the details so you can care for your new arrival.
Labor is a very personal experience, and we do all we can to honor your preferences. You choose your labor and delivery experience—whether you envision a low-intervention childbirth a pain-free push, we’ll always help you feel in control. Our high-tech, adjustable beds provide support for many labor positions, and we offer lots of options to help make you comfortable, including labor balls, nitrous oxide, TENs units, spa showers, and tubs. Plus, our wireless fetal monitoring enables you to comfortably move around, all while our expert team is monitoring you to keep you and your baby safe. If you’d like stronger pain relief, we have anesthesiologists available 24/7 to provide pain medication.
At MarinHealth Medical Center, we encourage moms to establish a birth preference plan. We do our utmost to provide the birthing experience you desire, backed by all the expertise and advanced medical technology to help keep both mom and baby safe. Our C-section rate for first-time moms is well below the national average and one of the lowest in the Bay Area. Our rate of vaginal births after a C-section (VBAC) is three times higher than the national average.
At MarinHealth, our world-class team delivers more than 1,500 babies a year. From low- intervention deliveries to high-risk pregnancy care, you can trust our team for safe and supportive care for you and your baby.
We take pride in being one of the only hospitals in the Bay Area with OB/GYNs and Certified Nurse Midwives available 24/7. Plus, you’ll have access to UCSF perinatologists and neonatologists through our partnership with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
Most deliveries go smoothly, but we are also fully staffed and equipped to expect the unexpected. We have two dedicated surgical suites for C-sections, and a specially-trained NICU nurse attends every birth.
Our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is staffed around-the-clock by a pediatric hospitalist and is fully equipped to care for infants needing extra medical attention. Thanks to our alliance with UCSF Health Benioff Children’s Hospital, we collaborate with expert neonatologists to care for newborns with critical health issues right here in Marin.
Our certified lactation consultants are here to help you every step of the way. We’re proud to offer breastfeeding consultations seven days a week while moms are in the hospital and on an outpatient basis for those who need more support after going home. MarinHealth has been recognized as a Baby-Friendly facility by Baby-Friendly USA, an initiative created to encourage breastfeeding and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding. MarinHealth is among the top 10% of hospitals who are honored to receive the Baby-Friendly Designation.
